Inflation. South Africa’s defence held firm, with core inflation easing to 3% – the lowest since July 2021. Trade. The trade surplus took a knock, down to R14.1bn – it’s smallest in three months. Rates. The SARB made a tactical substitution, cutting the repo rate by 25bps to 7.25% in response to a more favourable inflation outlook.
